ARTIST: Johnerick Lawson

Johnerick Lawson is a multidisciplinary artist originally from Virginia but with a diverse background in the arts, including living in Brooklyn, NY and San Francisco. A graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute with a degree in Design and Technology, Johnerick has participated in numerous undocumented art shows and co-founded Brooklyn-based art collective WAMP. He also published a monthly all-free comics newspaper, "The Madhappys" for 16 months while living in San Francisco. In 2012, he had a solo painting show at Galerie Les Singuliers in Paris. Now, back in his home state, he continues to create his unique style which combines cartoon, math, and psychedelic elements to interpret the reality he sees. He has experience in painting, sculpture, publication, and animation, including creating animated music videos and working in advertising as an animator for 4 years.
